Milan – Madrid, 30 March 2023 – Atlante, the company of NHOA Group (NHOA.PA, formerly Engie EPS) dedicated to electric vehicles’ fast and ultra-fast charging infrastructure, announces today the award of a tender for the installation and operation of 6 charging points in Abanto Zierbena, in Vizcaya, Basque Country.
The Basque Country has firmly committed to electric mobility in recent years, and this commitment is part of a broader strategy focused on sustainability and environment protection, which seeks to reduce polluting emissions and promote a cleaner and more efficient transport model.
Atlante’s mission is to develop the largest network of fast and ultra-fast charging points in Southern Europe and to become a benchmark in the Iberian Peninsula. To this end, the tender grants Atlante 6 charging points to be installed in 3 locations spread throughout the territory, all available 24/7. The first location is in Gallarta and features two fastcharging points. The second and third are in San Fuentes and Las Carreras, featuring, respectively, two quick charging points each.
“This tender reaffirms the rapid development of Atlante’s network of charging points in Spain, placing us ever closer to becoming a leading player in the Iberian Peninsula and Southern Europe. Furthermore, we are very grateful to be able to start in a territory like Abanto-Zierbena, which is committed to innovative mobility solutions and shares our sustainability values,” says Giovanni Ravina, CEO of Atlante Iberia.
The award was formalized between the City Council of Abanto-Zierbena and Atlante, and the charging points are expected to be online by May 2023, perfectly aligned with all standards, approvals, and regulations of electric charging in the Spanish territory.
In the first months of 2023, Atlante closed important agreements to become the reference network in Southern Europe and continue its expansion in the Iberian Peninsula. In the last months of activity, the acquisition of 60% of KLC in Portugal and of Ressolar’s e-mobility business unit in Italy, as well as the affiliation as a core member in CharIn, a leading global association dedicated to promoting interoperability based on the implementation of the Combined Charging System (CCS), stand out. Atlante also received €23 million grant by the EU under CEF Transport, the funding programme supporting European transport Infrastructure, for the installation of more than 1,400 fast and ultra-fast charging points for electric vehicles in Southern Europe, equivalent to 215 fastcharging stations, of which 55 to be located in Spain and 35 in Portugal.
