Paris, 5 December 2023 – NHOA Energy, the company of NHOA Group dedicated to energy storage, successfully commissioned the 311MWh energy storage project for Taiwan Cement Group (“TCC Group”) located within the HePing plant, in the Hualien County, Taiwan.

This commissioning is a milestone in Taiwan’s energy transition and strengthens NHOA Energy’s position as a leading energy storage systems provider in the Asia-Pacific region. This large-scale energy storage project marks a paradigm change in TCC Group’s renewable energy asset portfolio and represents a significant step forward in Taiwan’s journey towards a more sustainable future, in the context of the government’s announcement of a 2050 carbon-neutral pathway with important investments to strengthen smart grids and to encourage energy storage systems.

NHOA Energy is at the forefront of the market in delivering energy storage systems meeting the E-dReg service requirements, with over 110MW of E-dReg capacity in operation and further 35MW in commissioning. This accomplishment is yet another testament to NHOA’s advanced proprietary technology, which plays a vital role in maintaining grid frequency and managing significant daily peak energy shifts. This contribution significantly bolsters the region’s energy stability and resilience.

Following the earlier commissioning of the 200MWh system in Kwinana, Western Australia, and the 107MWh one in YingDe, mainland China, this is the third world-class battery storage project completed by NHOA Energy in 2023 in the Asia-Pacific region. Two more projects are under execution: the 400MWh system in Blyth, Southern Australia and the 124MWh system in SuAo, Taiwan.

Furthermore, NHOA Energy has been recently selected as a supplier for another almost 400MWh battery storage project in Asia, targeted to start construction in Q2 2024 and operation in mid-2025.

At TCC Group, we see NHOA Energy’s global capabilities as a vital part of our strategy to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations. This over 300MWh energy storage project in HePing is more than an operational enhancement – it’s a bold statement of our dedication to renewable energy and a testament to our role in Taiwan’s ambitious journey towards carbon neutrality by 2050”, commented Nelson Chang, Chairman of TCC Group.

The commissioning of the HePing system represents a major step, a further statement of our commitment to the Asia-Pacific sustainable energy market: NHOA Energy has over 1.2GWh of capacity online and under construction in the region. Our success builds on our two regional hubs in Taipei and Perth, coupled with the invaluable support from TCC Group, enabling us to capitalize on the extensive opportunities within the Asia-Pacific market. Our advanced energy storage technology is not just responding to, but anticipating the growing demand for renewable integration, thereby enhancing grid stability and supporting sustainability ambitions of the local governments. As we look to the future, we are strategically broadening our presence into Japan and Southeast Asia, embarking on an inspiring journey towards a more sustainable and greener future for all”, commented Giuseppe Artizzu, CEO of NHOA Energy.
